Champions First Credit Union Donates more than $28,000 to Hurricane Relief Efforts

Champions First Credit Union is committed to making a difference in the communities we serve. We are proud to call ourselves Champions for Change – the belief that we have the power to be champions for important causes to better our communities. When Hurricane Michael devastated our neighbors this past fall, we knew we had to step in.

In the wake of the catastrophic damage caused by Hurricane Michael, Champions First Credit Union committed all of the administrative funds raised through the Skip-A-Pay program to hurricane relief efforts. The credit union donated $13,000 to employees of local credit unions who were devastated by the storm in addition to more than $15,000 to the hurricane relief funds of the Community Foundation of North Florida and Southeastern Credit Union Foundation.

The Community Foundation of North Florida (CFNF) activated its disaster relief fund immediately following the storm’s impact and is still requesting contributions to assist the 11 counties covered in its service area, all of which are in the FEMA disaster declaration area. Champions First Credit Union’s donation to the Hurricane Relief Fund will be matched by the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation, doubling the impact of the gift. Read more about the Hurricane Michael Relief Fund at Community Foundation of North Florida.

The Southeastern Credit Union Foundation is dedicated to improving lives by helping credit unions better serve their members and communities with an emphasis on financial literacy, professional development and education, and disaster relief.
