Champions First Credit Union Named Credit Union of the Year
Champions First Credit Union receives the Florida Credit Union of the Year Award from the League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates
At its annual Southeastern Credit Union Conference and Expo, the League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates (LSCU) named Champions First Credit Union the Florida Credit Union of the Year in its asset category of $100 Million to $500 Million in assets. LSCU, which represents 302 credit unions in Alabama, Florida, and Georgia, presents the award annually to credit unions that have shown exemplary accomplishments in the previous year and made outstanding contributions to the development and growth of the credit union movement.
“We are incredibly proud to be recognized as the ‘Credit Union of the Year’ by the League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates,” said Champions First Credit Union’s President/CEO, Chuck Adcock. “This prestigious award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team to being our members’ financial champions, and also demonstrates the trust and support of our valued members.”
Champions First Credit Union was founded in 1954 to serve the FSU community. In 2010, Champions First Credit Union expanded its charter to be able to serve members in the greater Tallahassee area. Champions First Credit Union merged with Perry-based Tree Capital Credit Union in 2011, Pensacola-based Gulf Power Company Employees Credit Union in 2019, and the Florida Department of Transportation Credit Union in 2022. Through charter expansion and these mergers, membership with Champions First Credit Union is now open to anyone who lives or works in Bay, Calhoun, Columbia, Escambia, Franklin, Gadsden, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson, Jefferson, Leon, Liberty, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Taylor, Wakulla, Walton, or Washington counties in the state of Florida.
In addition to offering an array of financial services to its members through dedicated and personalized service, Champions First Credit Union is also committed to helping improve the communities where its members live and work through contributions to various charities, sponsoring local events, financial education and outreach, and an endowed FSU athletic scholarship.
Champions First Credit Union has been recognized four times with the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award by LSCU and the local and national Louise Herring Philosophy-in-Action Member Service Award by the Credit Union National Association for exhibiting excellence in community social responsibility.
“As the recipient of the ‘Credit Union of the Year’ award, we have solidified our position as a trusted financial institution that stands out in the Southeastern region,” continued Adcock. “This achievement reflects the credit union’s ongoing commitment to excellence and improving the financial well-being of our members.”
