Champions First Credit Union Merger News

The Florida Department of Transportation Credit Union (FDOTCU) membership recently voted to enter into a merger agreement with Champions First Credit Union. Following the Special Meeting on December 17, 2021, when all member votes to enter into the merger agreement were tallied and finalized, the official effective date of the merger was January 1, 2022.

The combined credit union now has nearly $400 million in assets and 32,000 members. All employees of Florida DOT Credit Union are now employees of Champions First Credit Union and will remain to serve members’ financial needs.

On July 31, 2022, FDOTCU accounts and account balances will be transferred from the FDOTCU data system to the Champions First Credit Union data system. Following this conversion, FDOTCU members can begin taking advantage of additional products, services, and branch locations. For more information related to the data conversion and other frequently asked questions, visit the merger web page.

“The board and management of FDOTCU are pleased with our partnership with Champions First Credit Union,” said Kevin Keith, former President/CEO of FDOTCU and current Executive Vice President of Champions First Credit Union. “Combining our institutions will allow the credit union to continue our exceptional member service while expanding product and service options to FDOTCU members.”

In 2020, Champions First Credit Union merged in GPCE Credit Union, which expanded Champions First Credit Union’s branch footprint to Pensacola and Panama City. Membership to Champions First Credit Union is open to the Florida State University community and anyone who lives or works in Bay, Calhoun, Escambia, Franklin, Gadsden, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson, Jefferson, Leon, Liberty, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Taylor, Wakulla, Walton, or Washington counties, and following the merger with FDOTCU,  now includes Columbia county.

“The partnership between FDOTCU and Champions First Credit Union will not only provide new products and services to FDOTCU members but also keeps Champions First Credit Union on our path of growth, allowing us to continue to enhance and broaden our member offerings,” commented Champions First Credit Union President/CEO Chuck Adcock.
